At our May 4, 2024 meeting we were honored to host Motor Officer Michelle Woods from PV PD. Officer Woods shared her background as well as her appointment as a motor officer in PV. She also spoke about what a motor officer does day to day, the gear she needs to wear (on a vest weighing just over 40 lbs!), and some of the training she went through to become a motor officer. 

As you might imagine there were LOTS of questions about their safety gear, the type of bikes the department uses, (she has her fingers crossed for a new BMW), and just what it takes to be a motor office in today's environment.

It was a great discussion and her comments lead into a larger topic around safety gear and best practices. Like many clubs CARR is first and foremost about rider safety. We believe in ATGATT. (All The Gear, All The Time) as well as maintaining ongoing discussions on staying safe while riding. Officer Woods closed by mentioning two safety programs which are run each year in December at the  Chuckwalla Valley Raceway  In addition she highlighted Femmewalla which is a similar program (at Chuckwalla)  just for women riders.

All in all, a great discussion and we hope to have her back again in the future.
